Early in 1996, God opened the door for me to move to Russia. During the first nine months, I planted nine churches in Moscow and the Baltics area. Then when the time was right, the Lord spoke to my heart about moving to Siberia. Tuva, Siberia, was an area of unreached people that had never received a widespread gospel witness. An explosion of church planting took place, and many responded to the gospel. Heather joined me in 1998, and within four years 48 churches were planted and more than 10,000 people accepted Christ.
When we came back to the States for a few months of itineration, we realized there were many places like Tuva with no gospel witness. We expanded our ministry to cover all of Siberia, and during the last ten years, 275 churches were planted and more than 88,000 people have come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior. Breaking the Ice has become a ministry to those who had no hope.
There are 25,611 cities, towns and villages throughout Russia. Approximately 3,800 of them have a gospel witness. That means 21,811 cities, towns and villages are still unreached. We desire to see that all of these places have an adequate gospel witness.
We know that our job is great in order to reach those who have never had a chance to hear the gospel. And God is at work. During one church plant near the Ural Mountains four thousand people came to hear the gospel at the opening service, 913 people came forward to accept Christ as their Savior.
